Enterprise Software at Scale

Platform work at scale—integrations, production support, and Agile collaboration for a system serving large enterprise clients.

Overview

This role focused on enterprise workforce management software at scale. The platform serves large clients with complex requirements. My work spanned integrations, production support, and contributing to the team’s move to Agile practices.

Context

The system handles payroll, scheduling, and related workflows for enterprise clients. Scale, reliability, and clear integration patterns were central. I joined during an Agile transition and spent significant time on production support—debugging issues, responding to incidents, and working across teams to resolve problems.

What I Did

  • Integrations: Built and maintained integrations using REST, SOAP, and Kafka. Worked with external systems and internal services to keep data and workflows aligned.
  • Production support: Handled production incidents, including off-hours support. Focused on quick diagnosis, communication with stakeholders, and sustainable fixes.
  • Collaboration: Participated in Agile ceremonies, cross-team problem solving, and working through ambiguous requirements with product and support.

Technical Approach

  • Used C# and .NET for backend services and integrations.
  • Worked with SQL Server for data access and reporting.
  • Relied on unit and integration tests to validate behavior, especially around integration boundaries.

Outcomes

  • Contributed to platform stability and integration reliability for large clients.
  • Supported the team’s Agile adoption through consistent participation and communication.
  • Gained hands-on experience with production support, incident response, and enterprise integrations.

What I Learned

Production support sharpens systems thinking—understanding how data flows, where failures occur, and how to communicate clearly under pressure. Working through ambiguity with cross-functional teams reinforced the value of incremental delivery and frequent feedback.
